I have been rescanning some of my father’s negatives from the 1930’s and 1940’s. When I first got the negatives I scanned them all with a Canoscan 9000f. The scans were sharp enough for small prints but because I was only making JPG files I was not able to keep the scanner from clipping the highlights. I am now scanning with a 24MP digital camera and generating RAW files giving me much sharper scans and much more control in post processing.
The photo above was taken by my father in Chicago Illinois in about 1940. There are no frame numbers or other markings on the edges of the negatives so they were probably bulk loaded from some unknown film.
You are so lucky to still have the negatives, looking forward to seeing some more images.

Thank you. I probably should post some more scans of the old negatives now that camera scanning 50mm negatives is so quick and easy with the VALOI easy35.

Such a beautiful snowy scenery. Do you really think that it was cooler than?

Thank you. A friend who lives in the Great Lakes area says that the winters are not as cold as they remember, and that there is less snow. That is certainly true here in New Jersey.

It’s interesting that the changes are different for different regions and parts of the earth. Here in Israel the climate became more continental – the winters much colder with mote rains. And springs are longer now.
